TUI’s route to market for surplus packages had always been to send a listing to several potential buyers and accept the best offer. The first package placed for auction had a previous offer from a known buyer to TUI of $40,000. 

We advised that the reserve for the package should be at least $150k and that TUI should proceed to auction. The same potential buyer then offered $80,000 and TUI was tempted to accept. We advised again to proceed to auction and for the buyer offering $80k to register and bid. The result was the auction closed at $250k with a buyer that had been verified prior to auction but was previously unknown to TUI.
TUI have now sold packages with The Aviation Auction for over 4 years, consistently achieving more than reserve. In 2021 we sold a total of $1.2 million of stock for TUI
